Well it finally happened… I was hoping for the best, hoping that I would be spared but no such luck. I have been hit with the Red Ring of Death, while playing Halo3 to top it of.

I just got off the phone with customer support and I should be getting a box to ship them my 360 in 3 to 5 days, then after they receive my 360 it will be a couple weeks till I get my 360 back. Which sucks for a couple reasons not just that I won’t be able to play Halo or Bioshock but I use my 360 as a media center extender and stream allot of stuff over my to it to watch on my home entertainment setup.

Microsoft really screwed up with the 360s, if these things didn’t have all these hardware problems they could have really given the ps3 a run for there money. What really says something is that even with such a high failure rate for the hardware Microsoft continues to sell consoles and games, its a really good system but they are holding themselves back with all the problems

Ok so I’ve had this remote for a while now and it’s awesome! Like everyone else nowadays I had a plethora of remotes lying around for my tv, dvd player, audio receiver, cable box.. you know all that good stuff. So I started to look into getting a universal remote, but I didn’t want some crappy universal remote that I would only be able to use for some things, I wanted an Uber-remote to control Everything! (ok well not everything but at least all my a/v stuff.)

Then I stumbled on to the Logitech Harmony remotes, particularly the one that had the xbox 360 buttons. So I decided to give it a shot, I’ve been using their keyboards and mice for years now and have been very happy with them so lets see how the do in the Universal remotes department.
In short…this remote is awesome, I haven’t had to touch another remote since I got it. It’s pretty simple to setup just install the software and connect the remote to a computer via the usb cable. Tell the software the model numbers of all your stuff and thats it. Then you can setup your various activities; like Watch TV, Watch a movie, or Play 360.

Then all you have to do is hit the appropriate activity button on the lcd screen and the remote will automatically turn on all required equipment and change all inputs to what ever they should be, its just that easy. You can customize all the buttons to do what ever you like and the small LCD screen is great for flipping through pages of commands that you may not use often.

Also this remote works great with my 360. It acts just like a controller would, and is perfect to use for watching dvd’s or with the media center extender which is what I mainly use it for.

This remote is so simple to use that soon after I got it I bought one of the standard harmony remotes, with out the 360 buttons, for my parents so that I don’t have to get those annoying calls anymore asking

“how do I watch a dvd? I can hear it but I can see anything? I think the TV’s broken”

The remote also feels great in your hands with a slightly rubberized underside its really nice to hold. It takes a little while to get used to the layout of the keys and the number keys are a tad small but in the grand scheme of things its not that big of a deal, and coming in at around $85 at Amazon its not all that expensive when you look at some of the other uber-remotes out there.
